Terry Owen player profile:
Striker Terry Owen began his career with Everton in 1966 and after a two year stint with Bradford City and a further five year spell with Chester City, the forward joined Port Vale in 1979.
Owen was signed by manager Dennis Butler at the start of the 1979-80 season but the manager was soon sacked as Vale got off to a terrible start. It took Owen until late September to score – he did so against Rochdale, a club where he spent a spell on loan.
By the end of the season, Owen had scored just three goals in nineteen games and was released. After leaving Vale, he moved to Northwich Victoria. His son, Michael, who was born during his father’s time with Port Vale went on to become an England International and had lengthy spells with Liverpool, Real Madrid and Newcastle United.
