Pacy forward Gavin Tomlin had begun in non-league football before he spells with Brentford, Yeovil, Dagenham & Redbridge and Southend United in the Football League. He then joined Port Vale FC in 2013 on a free transfer signing a one-year deal with the club.
His only season in Burslem was disrupted by injury although he did manage to find the net six times including in both games against Notts County.
In the summer of 2014, he left the club and signed for League One rivals Crawley Town for an undisclosed sum. He later moved into non-league with spells at Dulwich Hamlet (with whom he won promotion) and Cray Valley Paper Mills with whom he won promotion and with whom he reached and scored in the FA Vase Trophy final at Wembley.
