Former Port Vale striker scores at Wembley stadium
Former Vale striker Gavin Tomlin hit the net on Sunday in the FA Vase final at Wembley Stadium.
Tomlin, now 35, was playing for Cray Valley (Paper Mills) based in Greenwich. The side is well stocked with former professionals – Tomlin’s strike partner was Kevin Lisbie while former Vale loanee Callum Willock came on as a sub.
Tomlin opened the scoring on 36 minutes but it proved to be in vain as opponents Chertsey Town scored an equaliser three minutes later. The game went to extra-time where Chertsey added two more goals to win the game 3-1.
Tomlin joined the Valiants in 2013 and stayed for a year making 27 appearances and scoring six times. He then moved on to Crawley Town.
