Opposing views: Swindon (A)
We have the views of Swindon fan Bob’s Orange ahead of their side’s game against Rob Page’s Port Vale…
About the fan
I am in my thirties and a season ticket holder living in London. I have been a fan since the late 1980’s, when I was taken to the County Ground with my grandfather and my dad…
How do you expect your team to do this season?
At the start of the season I feared a struggle but we have done way better than I could have anticipated…
At the start of the season I feared a struggle but we have done way better than I could have anticipated. I think we may struggle as pitches start to get worse and I do worry about our home form. I would be happy with a play-off place. My prediction is fourth.
Who should we watch out for?
Our strikers Smith, Obika and Williams have all contributed with goals this season. For me, Luongo is our most consistent player and looks to make things happen.
What are your thoughts on your manager?
I can’t really fault him, we play a passing 3-5-2 and everyone looks comfortable on the ball…
I can’t really fault him, we play a passing 3-5-2 and everyone looks comfortable on the ball. All our signings are young and hungry and I can’t think of anything negative currently.
What are your thoughts on your board?
I am currently more than happy with the way Lee Power is going about his business. Our wage budget is £1.5m and we are spending within our means, purchasing young ‘unpolished gems’. Had Jed Mcrory won the court case earlier this year, the answer to this question would be a whole lot different!
Which one Vale player, past or present, would you take?
I know Pope scores a lot of goals, but I don’t know a lot else about Vale, sorry!
How do you expect Vale to do this season?
Lower mid-table.
Most memorable game against Vale?
We normally do quite well against Vale at home. I guess the most memorable had to be when we beat you 5-0 under Di Canio and secured the League 2 title. I dragged my missus along to that game and she hates football, even she enjoyed it!
A score prediction?
3-1 (Obika, Williams and Luongo)
