Port Vale 2-2 Scunthorpe
Chris Birchall scored his first of the season but Vale were held to a home draw by a ten man Scunthorpe team.
Rob Page made one enforced change with Ryan McGivern replacing the suspended Stephane Zubar while Jordan Slew returned to the bench.
But a sparse Vale crowd were shocked when the visitors took the lead after just four minutes through Bishop.
However, the Valiants almost immediately drew level when Marshall set up Ben Williamson on seven minutes. It was the striker’s fifth goal of the season.
The Vale were struggling to make inroads against battling opponents and it was all-square at half-time.
The game exploded into life on 70 minutes when sub Chris Birchall put Vale ahead and minutes later, former Valiant Jennison Myrie-Williams was dismissed for a second yellow card.
It looked like Birchall’s goal would be enough but Vale were punished for their complacency when Taylor scored an equaliser. And it could have been even worse when Taylor broke clear only for Chris Neal, in his hundredth game, to make a fine save.
Vale: Neal, Yates, Duffy, McGivern, Dickinson, Marshall, O’Connor, Lines, Dodds (Birchall), Williamson (Slew), Pope
