An in-depth look at the programme for the FA Cup fifth round replay game which saw the end of the Valiants’ epic cup run.
This programme marks the end of Vale’s tremendous cup run of 1987-1988. After a career-saving strike by Kevin Finney has seen John Rudge’s team edge past Macclesfield in the third round, goals from Walker and Sproson had given Vale a stunning victory over Spurs in the fourth round.
In the fifth round Vale drew Watford and promptly drew with them at Vale Park thanks in the main to a stunning save by Mark Grew. This programme is from the resulting replay which saw Vale’s cup run come to a gallant end.
