Tweet of the week
Thread of the week…
Mr Hobblesworth’s “Open Letter” thread was by far and away the stand-out thread of the week. Not only did it bring a disturbing incident to a wider audience but the poster himself earned praise for standing up to the fans.
Excerpt:
Open letter to some of the Vale fans at Bury today… When you saw that young Asian lad on the tram and decided to make comments about him having a bomb strapped to him or having guns in his pocket, did you think you were being really funny or clever? When I challenged you, you were quite cowardly and started claiming that you were talking about me. That was a bit pathetic, wasn’t it? And when the old man with you started talking about me being part of the PC brigade, did he understand how horrible it was to target a kid who was just on his way in to Manchester on a Saturday afternoon?
Transfer news…
There were temporary moves out of the clubs for two youngsters as Dan Turner joined Kidsgrove on loan and Ryan Boot joined Worcester City on loan. Both enjoyed good debuts with Turner scoring twice and Boot playing in a 3-0 win.
Talking points…
The trouble at Bury prompted two pieces of editorial. Firstly, Barry Edge’s poem “You’re an absolute disgrace” pulled no punches while editor Rob Fielding said a minority of idiots are tarnishing the club’s name with their actions.
In memoriam…
Sadly we lost two former Valiants this week…
