This squad struggles to tie it's own shoelaces.

'Struggles' suggests some kind of fight or valiant effort. On that basis, this squad struggles to even struggle.

Moore was a huge mistake. Five and a half year contract? What was Carol thinking?

We know what the train of thought was...to divert the blame to Crosby and take the heat off the real elephant in the room...Owner and DOF

No competitive interview process either. Again.

Fleetwood looked on a par to Middlesbrough to me. Well above our level. Hence I don't get the booing of our players.

So far above our level, if Loft hadn't missed his big chance, we'd have been 3-0 up against them. Whereas we never laid a glove on Middlesbrough. Fleetwood have only managed two league wins in three and a half months, one of which was against us, yet they've managed to put five goals past us in 180 minutes. They've also conceded the most goals in League 1 but, rather than trying to further exploit that weakness in the second half, we just sat back, invited them onto us and inevitably capitulated.

I would have changed tactics and been prepared to play out from the back when it was clear what Fleetwood were doing in overloading the attack.

To be fair to Darren Moore, he brought on Loft to hold the ball up, but it didn't work. The stuff going up to the front wasn't good enough and the players were not organised as an attacking unit.

Before we have too much of a go at Moore. He nearly got a win v a much better squad.

We'd have been better going down to ten or bringing on Carol than Loft coming off the bench.

  5. Whether DM is a success or failure, time will tell. However, yet again, we didn't interview anyone else for the role. So that's a Director of Football appointed without a competitive application process. A manager in Crosby appointed without a competitive application process. And now another managerial appointment with an interview shortlist of one. It hardly seems a failsafe approach to getting the best candidate for the job.

ONLY the Vale can F K a highly likely Potteries league derby next season by going down THIS season!!....😭

There IS one chink of light however.....😁

Charlton are at Derby Tuesday night.....

IF the Vale can SOMEHOW bear Fleetwood the same night we could well BE out of the drop zone with TWO games in hand.......

    IF and SOMEHOW....👍🤣👀👀

Shame we play Derby ourselves next weekend while Charlton, fresh from draws with Bolton and Portsmouth, have a fixture run consisting of Northampton, Cheltenham, Carlisle and Fleetwood.

  7. Charlton have Derby next but then play Northampton, Cheltenham, Carlisle and Fleetwood in their following four matches.

Cheltenham play Wycombe, Burton and Charlton in their next three.

Surely only a matter of time before we're well and truly adrift.

    4. Carol isn't budging on this. Line drawn.

Carol has set her stall out today, in a pretty poor way. I'm no longer of the mind to defend her, and if she wants to sell up I'm not going to try and convince her otherwise. It would probably be for the best for all parties.

However, there's not a great deal we can do apart from pray they get the appointment spot on. It's apathetic of me, but I feel it's the reality.

If Carol thinks today's rambling mess of a statement draws a line under the dissent and stops the chants against the best DoF in all the land, she might be in for a shock.

  9. Flitcroft has lost the fans and he's destroying the relationship between the fans and the Shanahans. His cowardice in not fronting things up last night and being in the dugout and facing the media should be the final straw. How can Carol still believe he's doing a good job when by every tangible measure he's failed yet doesn't seem to be accountable to anyone? As fans, we need to keep up the pressure until he's gone.

As long as our league position doesn't come under threat I think she will concentrate on the main project and we will have to rough it until we get better senior players to help on bringing the youngsters through.

I think Chickensteve is bang on.

More quality Flitcroft additions like Loft you mean?

Fail to beat Blackpool and lose to Carlisle and how won't our league position be under threat? We've indisputably been in relegation form for the past three and a half months. Now isn't the time for sticking our heads in the sand and hoping for the best.

  11. 9 points from the last 42 available.

12 goals scored in those last 14 league matches, 22 conceded.

This only ends one way if Carol doesn't sack him.

Yeah ! Let's Sack our Manager ? Then get 'one' in, who has already been sacked. Multiple times ?, By multiple clubs ? ? 😄 😆 🤣

Sounds a better option than keeping a tactically inept manager that no other League 1 club would touch with a bargepole (or would ever have appointed manager in the first place).
