This squad struggles to tie it's own shoelaces.

'Struggles' suggests some kind of fight or valiant effort. On that basis, this squad struggles to even struggle.

Fleetwood looked on a par to Middlesbrough to me. Well above our level. Hence I don't get the booing of our players.

So far above our level, if Loft hadn't missed his big chance, we'd have been 3-0 up against them. Whereas we never laid a glove on Middlesbrough. Fleetwood have only managed two league wins in three and a half months, one of which was against us, yet they've managed to put five goals past us in 180 minutes. They've also conceded the most goals in League 1 but, rather than trying to further exploit that weakness in the second half, we just sat back, invited them onto us and inevitably capitulated.

  3. Whether DM is a success or failure, time will tell. However, yet again, we didn't interview anyone else for the role. So that's a Director of Football appointed without a competitive application process. A manager in Crosby appointed without a competitive application process. And now another managerial appointment with an interview shortlist of one. It hardly seems a failsafe approach to getting the best candidate for the job.

  4. Charlton have Derby next but then play Northampton, Cheltenham, Carlisle and Fleetwood in their following four matches.

Cheltenham play Wycombe, Burton and Charlton in their next three.

Surely only a matter of time before we're well and truly adrift.

  5. Flitcroft has lost the fans and he's destroying the relationship between the fans and the Shanahans. His cowardice in not fronting things up last night and being in the dugout and facing the media should be the final straw. How can Carol still believe he's doing a good job when by every tangible measure he's failed yet doesn't seem to be accountable to anyone? As fans, we need to keep up the pressure until he's gone.

As long as our league position doesn't come under threat I think she will concentrate on the main project and we will have to rough it until we get better senior players to help on bringing the youngsters through.

I think Chickensteve is bang on.

More quality Flitcroft additions like Loft you mean?

Fail to beat Blackpool and lose to Carlisle and how won't our league position be under threat? We've indisputably been in relegation form for the past three and a half months. Now isn't the time for sticking our heads in the sand and hoping for the best.

  7. 9 points from the last 42 available.

12 goals scored in those last 14 league matches, 22 conceded.

This only ends one way if Carol doesn't sack him.

Yeah ! Let's Sack our Manager ? Then get 'one' in, who has already been sacked. Multiple times ?, By multiple clubs ? ? 😄 😆 🤣

Sounds a better option than keeping a tactically inept manager that no other League 1 club would touch with a bargepole (or would ever have appointed manager in the first place).

Reason for the Paddock Green is the toilet issue. Season Tickets + 500 extra only

That's irrelevant until the Paddock's reduced capacity is reached, at which point it will show as sold out, not a sea of green available seats.

Maybe they could just disband the scheme and give everyone their money back. Although I thought you only had to buy about 2 discount tickets to get your money back anyway.

You get £4 off a home ticket for league matches if you buy before a matchday but that's not the point. They aren't delivering a key benefit they advertised for the scheme. Why should 1876 members just accept that?

But they could just ask a season ticket holder to get them one if they just want a ticket... I agree it is a flawed policy but we don't get big games like this often enough for the club to evaluate best practice.

It hardly needs much evaluation of best practice. It just needs the club to honour the commitments they made when taking the money of supporters signing up to the membership scheme on the basis it would get them priority access to tickets.

Pretty simple really - season ticket holders, 1876 members, general sale, in that order.

Not season ticket holders and season ticket holders' mates, then general sale, with no priority for people who joined the membership scheme on the promise of priority access to tickets.

I am not saying it is best practice but in reality the club just wants to sell tickets and someone who has had a season ticket for 20+ years might consider that they should get priority.

Who is saying season ticket holders shouldn't have priority?

Season ticket holders having priority to buy one ticket per season ticket is quite different from season ticket holders being able to book tickets for all their mates, while those who've paid money to join a membership scheme promising priority don't have access to tickets.

If the club aren't going to honour the advertised benefits of their membership scheme for the biggest match of the season, they should refund every member who signed up to it.

Maybe they've just thought "Let's get these tickets sold by whatever means" but as l flagged up earlier, the scenario of ST holders buying 10 each for their friends and families could see even ST holders who are late to the release missing out...and that really would cause some ruckus.

Season ticket holders seats are reserved until (and including) 4th December.

  14. You have to wonder why the club couldn't come up with the obvious, fair priority order of:

    - Season ticket holders (one per season ticket)

    - 1876 members (one per membership)

    - General sale

It makes a mockery of the membership scheme, and points based loyalty system in general, if friends of season ticket holders, who might not even be Vale fans, can jump straight to the front of the queue for the biggest game of the season, potentially at the expense of members who've paid for priority and other supporters who attend matches regularly.

The ticketing for this fixture, from the initial pricing to the current selling arrangements, has been a complete and utter shambles.

Sorry, genuine question,  have the club said that it will go straight from ST's to general sale?  Long time until the game, should be time to include a time frame for members surely?  The trouble is that our severely restricted capacity will cause us problems now.  I suspect whatever the club puts in place, some fans will be unhappy and complaining.   In fact, thinking about it,   was it ever any different when the odd big game comes along?     Also, not sure how, if a ST holder buys an extra seat, how they will be sitting together?   If it's allocated seating,  I would say get there early, it could get messy!

According to the club's ticket update on Thursday, the priority is:

    • 14th November – Season Ticket Holders (Who can purchase additional for friends and family)
    • 21st November – General Sale (With Season Tickets reserved)
    • 5th December – Season Tickets Released to General Sale

This is hardly a case of "whatever the club puts in place, some fans will be unhappy."

This is a membership scheme being advertised as offering priority access to tickets for all in-demand fixtures. The club have taken people's money on that basis then announced ticket sales arrangements for the quarter final with 1876 members getting no priority at all.

Is it £15 per person or £25 per person?

Also, according to that, you would get £4 off the ticket price for the Middlesbrough game

It states that cup competitions are excluded from the £4 discount off ticket prices which is fine, but clearly 1876 members should have priority over friends of season ticket holders, since we've paid £15 for the privilege of priority access. For me, that advertised benefit was the only reason I took out the membership.
