Lolz...  how can they low ball free?  Just pick up the contract and they are yours....  none of our players aside from Ripley, Chislet and Garrity will command a fee.

You’d be surprised. No point in revealing our hand in public anyway.

Other clubs have named & shamed the ones they don’t want anymore publicly

Pros and cons with doing it. If teams know you desperately want to get rid of a player, they will probably low ball the offer. As I said, I’m confident there will be plenty of movement in and out as the summer progresses.

Went today but can understand those who didnt bother especially as most of the players havent bothered turning up all season. One of those games where I went because im unsure how long it will be before we are back in League 1. It was interesting which players were picked today , not sure if Im reading any significance into the ones that were missing. The retained list will probably answer that question.

Stayed till the end but refused to clap the players off , may have been a bit harsh on the very few who have put a shift in this season. However did applaud Gibbo off at the end. Take note recruitment team thats the type of player you need to be signing for next season.

Don’t know if Gibbo was under instructions, but every time he got the ball, he just passed back. Never even tried a run at our fullbacks. On that performance, I wouldn’t want to see him back.

  4. Like many others on here, my hope has turned into acceptance that we are going down. Lots of questions to be answered during the post mortem. Whatever happens, I just hope we are challenging in league 2 next season, as it really is a shiter watching your team lose every week. I can’t wait for the end of this season, it’s a really hard watch 😔

That doesn't really acknowledge the statement from Synectics themselves.

C&K formed a holding company in October than as of the latest records is the majority shareholder in the business, they were both terminated as a 'person with significant control' in Nov so you'd think they'd sold some of their shares to it. Companies house isn't yet updated to reflect how Synova have/will invest. They've accepted investment into Synectics, not sold it off. They will still be there running it and being invested financially in it.

While they may well have sold shares for cash, there isn't a cheque in the drop box in Natwest in Newcastle high St with £180m written on it made out to her and Kevin, fans need to be realistic.

I’m led to believe it will be sold, but Carol will remain on the board.

  6. I would try this team (if fit)

                         Ripley

     Clark  Derbra  Lopata  Jones

                   Ojo      Garrity

    Massey       Chislett      Mighten

                            Loft

I know Massey probably doesn’t deserve a start, but I’d give him a last chance in his favoured position and see if can link up with Clark. I also think we need Garrity’s engine and bite in the middle to try and stop teams cutting through us like a knife through hot butter. In terms of forward options, I think Loft gives us more of physical presence, with Wilson to come on.

I don't really know a lot about Hudlin apart from he's tall. If you are looking for a precedent I think he's about the same age and height Kevin Francis was when Stockport signed him from Derby. He was considered a bit of a donkey at the time and that turned out well. As you say 2 + 2 may be equalling 5.

We already have two target men in Uche and Loft, so can’t see us bringing another one in. The one we bring in needs to be quick and have an eye for goal.

The gap being 4 points with top of the table on Saturday is not very comfortable.

All the teams up to 14th are pretty much on the same points, and we have 3 games in hand on 4 of the teams. If we were to lose 3 in a row, then I’d start to get twitchy, but not now.

Where's the rumour come from that he' asked to speak to Charlton.

My understanding that Charlton made the approach first to Vale who then gave him permission to speak to them and not from Uche which means he is due his balance

What you on about ‘he will be due his balance’? Do you think if Uche had gone to Charlton, Vale would be paying him for 6 months?????

Hoping for the best. Risky starting both young lads but I think he’s making a point in that the recruitment hasn’t been good enough and the ‘pros’ such as Massey have been a disgrace. Him and grant should be a little embarrassed.

I dont mind the manager giving them both a go after the horror show the likes of Massey served up on Tuesday (especially when Massey is the alternative) but I can’t see us getting us a result here

Lowe in midfield again is a bigger issue to me.

Lowe will play in the back 3 I think. Garrity, Devine in the middle with Chizz in the number 10 slot.

The Valiant gets better and better.

It must sound like I'm on the payroll, or a mate of Baggers - I'm not. I just think we should support quality coverage of local football teams.

It's truly found its rhythm and voice. An excellent balance of match reports, pre-match buildup, and insight only afforded to a reporter with great relationships with the club - tonight's 'around the ground' tour detailing the work going on at Vale Park is great.

Genuinely the best coverage we've ever had as a club. It's light years ahead of what the Sentinel provide for Stoke and not on the most advert-ridden website possible. Clean and efficient to read.

Seriously cannot recommend it enough. Its an absolute bargain and I'll 100% renewing when the time comes.

Second that. The ‘around the ground’ article was a great insight. If you are curious to know ‘When are we finishing the Lorne Street?’ ‘Why can’t we do it now?’ ‘What else has been spent on the ground’ then I recommend you sign up and take a read.

There is so much to pick apart from this I don't know where to start.

I'm not going to repeat what I put earlier in this post, but you my friend are clearly in the pocket of a 35 year old semi-professional footballer who is only guaranteed '15 goals a season' for Congleton (if he doesn't get injured or downs tools on the basis of hearing something he doesn't like).

Maybe if TP actually did legitimately 'trust the process' and made some notable headway into coaching (like he insisted he would love to do) instead of crying, mocking people, putting on accents, doing podcasts, writing newspaper columns and tweeting then maybe he wouldn't be playing 8th tier basement football for his mates and the club would involve him in some way. Seems like he's burnt that bridge, any with many fans.

Not why any young players would want to work with him though, because there is a high chance they will be slagged off in public afterwards if he doesn't like what he see's.

Clarke seems to me like a realist and read this whole situation well, Pope comes across like a spoilt brat who is bemoaning his past 5 years decisions/attitude.

Agree with this and Gavcradd post. However, I don’t blame the ale and vale lads one bit for doing the interview, I just hope sensible Vale fans can made their own conclusions.

Its clear Pope has a very high opinion of himself (which you need to be a pro footballer) but I think he lost touch of reality towards the end. An example is his ‘head gone’ comments after losing the captaincy and admitting to proceeding to drink heavily. We all know Pope likes a beer and a fag, but I think his ‘I’ll still try hard’ approach is not suitable in 2021 and we need more professionalism at the club.

I will always remember Tom Pope fondly, but It was the correct decision to move on, and maybe it was a year too late to be honest. I’m sure If ale and vale interviewed John Askey, there would be a completely different side of the story.

My only disappointment now is that there seems to be a bit of a divide amongst Vale fans following TP’s comments. I’ve already seen people mocking (in the same way as TP did) ‘trust the process’ ‘attention to detail’ They are waiting for DC and DF to fail, and it’s not helping to form a united fanbase.

I just hope everyone can draw a line under the past and move forward. We deserve some success after the <ovf censored> we’ve had to deal with over the last 5 years. We can’t turn back time, so regardless of people’s opinions (including TP) let’s back the team, management and owners and see where we end up come May. UTV.

Cheers for the feedback. A few points here.

    1) Can't help my accent I'm afraid.

    2) I live in north London and very occasionally watch Arsenal with my father in law.

    3) I don't know how on earth you got the impression that I'm a Man Utd fan. United weren't even mentioned - at any point.

    4) I've been supporting Vale for the best part of 25 years now.

    5) The Ale and Vale lads are doing a cracking job with the pod.

I thought you came across well Alex and I enjoyed the pod.
