  1. Give the kids a go v Cambridge. Want to see Dipepa, Shorrock, Plant, Walters and anyone else who is near the first team starting to get them valuable experience. We'll need them next year.

As for the experienced players, I want to keep Ripley, Smith, Mitch Clark, Garrity, Chislett, Ojo.

Never want to see Sang, Loft, Grant, Lowe, Massey or Weir in a Vale shirt ever again.

The others (Cass, Jones, Lopata, Uche, Leutwiler, Iacovitti, Debrah) I genuinely don't care. If we keep them they'll do a job but really, we need better than they've showed this season.

  2. Hi everyone - I raised this a few weeks ago but had enough interest to follow it up. I've sorted a corporate package from the club to get the pitch available on 1st May at 6pm. My intention is to get interested Vale fans together to play a friendly 11 v 11 game. No experience necessary, all ages and abilities welcome. It works out at £50 each, if any excess is made it will go to the Rudge statue fund.

Thanks! Looking forward to it 🙂

Uche was absolutely shattered when he went off. He should have gone off earlier in my opinion, possibly at half time. I don't accept Moore did much wrong.

Don't disagree that Uche had to go off, but Weir? If Loft comes on at that point we gain a point, minimum.

  4. Very frustrating to watch, Vale stood off and let them play, which of course they did. By contrast, Vale players never had time to do anything, as soon as we got the ball there was a Posh shirt all over us. Big difference.

If you're not on the same level quality wise, which we're clearly not, no idea what we don't try to beat them in strength, show them we're there, get a foot in, not give them time to play. Make them not want to ball because they're worried they'll get clattered.

But no. Far too polite and nice.

    Yeah the rake was good.

Agree with you about the atmosphere, 80%+ were sat down all game. But not a lot to get amped up about on the pitch and hasn't been since January last year.

Will people give over about this? Really gets on my wick. I don't want to stand up all game thanks, I buy a seat to sit down. It's also illegal to stand in seating areas.

I'm not at all arguing that people shouldn't stand up if they want to, but stop moaning at others for not doing so. Different people, different opinions.

  6. You might have seen the advert Vale out put today re: playing on the Vale Park pitch. It's a lot of money (£1,200 + VAT) but between two teams of 11 - 15 players each it's maybe £50 each. I've been in contact with the club about booking a session (a 6pm one after work for most people) and am at the stage of hopefully agreeing.

However... before I do, who would be up for it? No definites needed yet, just want to see if there's enough interest so I'm not  massively out of pocket 😬 Also that no one else has had the same idea and doing the same thing!

    Cheers! UTV

Thought it was slightly cocky to take Ojo off when we went 2-1 up myself. Bizarre decision we were never going to see that game out. We aren’t capable of holding onto a lead the season so far has shown us that

    Crosby totally threw it away

Spot on. From controlling the game and being comfortable to losing, all because of the subs.

You can argue whether it's Crosby's fault for making the changes or Flipchart's fault for signing such dross but either way, it's embarrassing. I said as soon as I saw Arblaster and Devine coming off that we would lose control of the middle. I said as soon as I saw Loft walking up for a pen that he's missing it. How can everyone else see what a professional football manager can't? Seething.

  9. Ryan Loft had might as well pack his bags now and look for a club in the January window. Useless on so many levels.

Edit : in fact, no. Whoever thought signing Ryan Loft was a good idea needs to pack their bags. Clueless, the man won't be a striker as long as he has a hole in his arse.

Think that goal in the Other category might be the Tin Pot one. Wiki says 7 excluding tonight but who cares - Ben might be on for a repeat of his best ever tally of 12. Then we'll have offers for him!

If he's on 8 already in 19 league games, he's surely on to smash that tally! Could we have our 20 goal a season man within the ranks?

We also happily sell out away games, regardless of form etc. We sold out Mansfield (in this competition) and Shrewsbury recently during a poor run of form.

That was what, 2,000 tickets for each? This is nigh on 11,000 tickets for home fans. When the football is this poor, I really can't blame people.

  12. Vale really don't make it simplet to buy tickets do they. Just got three for me, my dad and 17 year old nephew. Picked an OAP and two adults, as the site says 16 and over is adult. Put the nephew's date of birth in and it says he can't buy an adult ticket. Messed around a bit and had to put in a wrong DOB to make him 20ish so it will let me give the club the right money.

    Le plus ca change...

On Saturday Vale had very reduced prices for the Burton game and less than 4,000 Vale fans turned up.

Very good point Jean. People seem to think cheap tickets = a full ground. It doesn't work that way. A minority of people will be motivated either way by ticket prices. I think we'll still sell out (or get 10k+ at least) even with people moaning about the price. Not sure what our capacity is at the moment with the reduced safety certificates, no family stand, no second half of Lorne Street and a couple of pissoirs for toilets in the Paddock.

  14. Embarrassing by some Vale fans to be honest. Look at the prices for the other three quarter-finals, you'd be lucky to get in to any of then for double what Vale are charging.

It will still sell out, I'm sure of it. And we'll make a decent wedge from it. Vale are a business, albeit a family-concious one, not a charity.

. Unfortunately Tom Pope was a victim of himself, Askey clearly had a downer on him but Tom wasn't clever enough to handle it. It's a sad fact that "when the north wind blew"  Tom went to the pub. Now let's say for example that the pub he went to was in Southport or Kidderminster, then the news of his 5 or 6 pint consumption would unlikely reach the managers ear but the pub was in Stoke on Trent. Sadly for Tom if he'd had two pints you can guarantee some local snitch wold report it as 6 pints and as many Benson & Hedges to boot. Tom must know this. I really, really want to remember the good that Tom has done for the club, both on and off the pitch but the failure of some fans to let go and move on is nauseating.

A fit Tom Pope in the team is a great thing. The problem is (from what I've heard) that a Tom Pope coming to the end of his career and being left out of the team is a nightmare to manage, especially for a quiet, confrontation-avoiding gent like Askey. The fact that Pope admits to drowning his sorrows (rather than getting back to full fitness) in response to being left out tells you all you need to know. It's no wonder he scored his 30+ goals that season under Adams, he ran him into the ground to get him fit and would never have tolerated an ounce of indiscipline.  With a different attitude, Pope could still be leading the line this  season under Askey. The fact that he isn't is (partially) down to his choices.

Everyone has freedom of choice. No one has freedom from the consequences of those choices.
