Swindon Town have confirmed the signing of former Port Vale wingback Mitch Clark on a one year deal.
Clark was a popular player at Vale Park but his various spells were affected by injuries. The 27 year-old had four spells with the club, three of them on loan, making a total of 114 appearances. He was loaned to Fleetwood in January this year and subsequently released at the end of this season.
Clark had a highly successful first loan spell under Neil Aspin in 2018. After being released by Aston Villa, he turned down an approach by Vale to join Leicester City in 2019. Unable to gain a first-team place he then rejoined Vale on loan in January 2020 but his second spell was ended by the Covid lockdown. His third spell was also controversial as his spell was terminated early for “personal reasons.”
After a spell with Accrington Stanley, Clark joined Vale for a fourth time, this time on a permanent basis in 2023. However, he suffered serious knee and neck injuries that restricted his appearances. Nevertheless, he played 22 times during Vale’s 2024 promotion campaign. At his best, Clark was a marauding presence on the right flank.
Clark told Swindon’s official website: “I’m really happy to be here, I’m really looking forward to getting out onto the pitch and playing in front of the fans. I’m a hard-working player that will run through a brick wall for the team, and I’m someone that will give my all. I’m 27 years old now, so I’m an older player compared to some people nowadays, and the fact that I experienced a promotion two years ago with Port Vale, I’m hoping to experience that again.”

The lad should still be at the Vale .
