Port Vale defender Mitch Clark’s social media post confirms he has a serious injury
An Instagram post from Port Vale defender Mitch Clark says that the luckless player ‘s career is under threat after a “freak” injury.
Clark, who was signed last summer has been dogged with injuries since joining the Valiants for a fourth spell. Last season, he suffered a torn cartilage which required a long lay-off and restricted him to just fifteen appearances.
This summer, he looked to be in pole position to start as first-choice right-back only to pick up an injury. In Clark’s absence, the Valiants have Tom Sang and youngster Ben Lomax who could play in the right-back position but if Clark does face a considerable time out of the game, Darren Moore may consider moving for a replacement.

Spells: 2018-19 (loan), 2019-2020 (loan), 2020-2021 (loan), 2023 – present
Games: 76
Goals: 1
Following the Bolton Wanderers friendly game, manager Darren Moore said the player would miss the start of the season, but an Instagram post by Clark suggests a potentially career-threatening neck injury which could rule him out for a considerable amount of time or even force him to retire from playing.
Clark posted on his Instagram account:
We would like to wish Mitch the very best in his recovery and a return to good health as soon as possible.

Good luck for a full recovery. I remember Bill Summerscales had a broken neck injury in 1972, I think, but made a full recovery and continued his career. Keep your spirits up
