Promotion joy for Morsy
Former Port Vale midfielder Sam Morsy should be lining up in the Premier League next season after his Ipswich Town side clinched promotion. It will be the first time the former Valiants youth teamer has played in the top level. Morsy was named as the club’s player of the year and dedicated the promotion to the people of Palestine while crediting manager Kieran McKenna for transforming the club’s fortunes.
New contract for Clarke?
Former Port Vale manager Darrell Clarke, who narrowly failed to keep Cheltenham Town in League One is reportedly close to agreeing a new contract with the club. Clarke, who described relegation as “gut wrenching” could face the Valiants in the bottom division next season. He could be assisted on the pitch by former Vale midfielder Tom Pett, who has agreed a long-term deal with the club.
Dickinson joins Hartlepool Utd coaching team
Former Port Vale defender Carl Dickinson has joined Hartlepool United as part of new manager Darren Sarll’s coaching team. Dickinson, who made 143 appearances for the Valiants, will be Pools’ assistant-manager. The 37 year-old was previously player-manager of local non-league side Hanley Town.
Angus exits Altrincham
Former Valiants striker Dior Angus is one of six players to be released by Altrincham. 30 year-old Angus, who made four appearances, scoring once, for the Vale scored four times in 38 games for Alty.
Scott departs FC Halifax Town
Goalkeeper Tom Scott, who spent a short non-playing spell with the Valiants, has been released by National League side FC Halifax Town. Scott was signed by Vale in 2021 following an injury to deputy Dino Visser. He made the first-team bench without making an appearance before being released in the summer.
Not surprised by Sam Morsey he was good when he played for us had a bit of a bit of a disciplinary issue on field got alot of bookings if I remember correctly glad Darrell is getting a new contract he deserved it nearly kept them up and I think Tom Pett is another we should have held on to looking at our midfield last season

To be fair, the occasional update is hardly “dwelling” – the vast majority of posts I put on here are about the current squad/news. However, I do think the occasional update on former players is of interest.
