Defender Liam Gordon made his 27th appearance for his country on Thursday, in the process becoming the 18th Port Vale player to earn a full International cap.
The left-sided defender played in Guyana’s 2-0 win over Dominica on Friday.
This season has been an unusual one for Port Vale. The club has officially been in existence for 150 years but have only produced sixteen full Internationals prior to this season. It means International appearances have been few and far between. However, with Ben Waine playing for New Zealand and loan goalkeeper Joe Gauci appearing for Australia earlier this month it means the club has seen three players earn full International caps already this season.

Sadly I hate to say it, but this team didn’t go down fighting! The last two performances have been absolutely dreadful. The misunderstanding and mistakes in our defence which you would laugh about every couple of years are happening every game. The midfield has nowhere to go as the forward line is none existent. I still believe Brady was sold down the river, expecting him to keep us up with a forward line made up of, old unfit men whose legs have gone, and inexperienced loanees. While we have to give him the benefit of the doubt I am struggling. Other than when teams seem happy to play at a snail’s pace we haven’t improved, the football hasn’t improved. I do try to be fair about things but the continuous schoolboy errors are testing me. These type of mistakes for me should have been ironed out by the new manager and his coaches. People may say the manager is unable to influence anything once the players cross the white line. My argument to that would be, good coaching, practice are there to eliminate such mistakes. The last two games have shown what an enormous task lays a head on rebuilding the playing squad.
