Port Vale manager Darren Moore felt his side did well to take a point from an in-form Wycombe Wanderers side on Saturday.
The visitors had much the better of the chances and hit the woodwork twice but the Vale backline managed to keep a clean sheet.
Joe Gauci came and took a lot of catches but the big thing for me was we stood resilient…
Moore told the media: “Credit to the players for the resilience and determination they showed. I just thought we went about our business in a manner that we probably haven’t seen for a couple of weeks. I thought every single one of them stuck to the game plan.
“We knew Wycombe put the ball into the box a lot, they have one of the highest percentage crossing rates in the division. So we brought the big man Ben Heneghan back in there and I thought he was a Colossus, he headed and blocked everything.
“Joe Gauci came and took a lot of catches but the big thing for me was we stood resilient.
“We picked a really attacking team. The best form of defence is probably attack and we wanted to do that at home. We wanted to take the game to them and not let them build or impose their physicality.”

Excellent, shouldn’t be too many changes then for the Plymouth game so they can start, in the middle of November, to build on pitch relationships
I don’t disagree with some of Moore’s comments, but they only touch the surface. He almost seems satisfied with the performance and result, as a battling disciplined effort to gain a point. Given the club’s position, supporters expect more answers, more direct accountability and transparency on his selection and tactical decisions, and why he’s stock piled an enormous squad. He should be specifically asked about these issues. His previously tight defence is exposed by a serious lack of pace. Why does he persist with a back three ? Four wing backs with pace, Clark, Gabriel, Gordon and Headley, miss the Wycombe game, but Shorrock is loaned out. Why tinker with selection and formations at the expense of consistency ? I don’t think Moore will answer these penetrating questions, most probably because they won’t be asked. Up next is the “6 pointer” relegation battle against Plymouth, to further test the clarity of Moore’s thinking. Can we dream of a thumping home win with his best available players in their best position ?

I was happy with a point after the recent results, Moore is never going to please everyone I thought his changes to the side were justified and to me that showed strength in a manager. People say we haven’t had a settled side and while I can agree with that I also feel injuries have been a big factor in this as well. The same could be said of some of the players big unusual mistakes in games in which we have been unfortunately punished every time, which can be applied to the attacks as well as the defence and the main problem we have not picked up points. I believe this will improve shortly and the smiles will return but the players need us more than anything so let’s get behind them all like true valiants do. I would like to see Waine get another run in the side think he could’ve good to play with Cole and stretch teams more with his pace and willing to run. Get behind Moore and the team and let’s get up this table PVFC forever

It’s the middle of November and that sort of language is being used already. It’s time DM keeps the same team together to keep the club in the division, it’s the middle of November and the club is already in a relegation scrap
Let’s be honest we were going to be in a relegation battle before a ball was kicked according to the bookies. Let’s see how resilient our defence is on Saturday up against Tolaj. He will have them on toast. Wondering what pearls of wisdom will come out of the clowns mouth next week? Sadly I bet it won’t be ” I Quit”.
