Port Vale manager Darren Moore told BBC Radio Stoke that the team’s first victory in League One this season was a way to “stop the rot.”
The Valiants secured a 2-0 away victory at Exeter City thanks to goals from Ruari Paton and Devante Cole. It means the Vale won three points for the first time in the 2024-25 season.
“The main thing was to get the clean sheet and stop the rot,” Moore told BBC Radio Stoke.
“We set up for it and knew that if we kept the back door shut we would score. I’m chuffed with the clean sheet, I must say.
“I have to give credit to the group again. The atmosphere, camaraderie and togetherness has been second to none.
“A lot of people have been asking about that. But from the start of the season we’ve not been too far away.
“We’ve had some good wins in the cup competitions but then stuttered in the league but we need to learn from this win and take it into the Mansfield game.”
