Port Vale manager Darren Moore said that the late reverse against Stevenage was down to “concentration” and his team would learn from it.
Vale were winning 1-0 and had created further chances to stretch their lead but two late goals by Stevenage’s in-form striker Jamie Reid turned the game around.
Moore spoke to the club’s in-house PVTV media team.
The manager commented: “I said to the boys that we can’t afford to throw out good work we’ve done up to 87,88 minutes. What’s done us tonight is just concentration. As long as we learn tonight in terms of the concentration element and going right the way to the bitter end and it stands us in good stead for the rest of the season, then we’ll take that and we’ll move on
“Tonight was probably a game which was self-inflicted and that’s the most disappointing thing. When we look back at the goals it’s just down to concentration.
“We probably should have got the second goal and that kills the game. We’re bitterly disappointed. We have to stay focussed and concentrate right until the end.”

Funny old game football! The game looked over with the 3 points going into the Vale Piggy bank, but NO, not convinced we adapted to all the substitutions which were made in quick succession. As I have stated previously not sure where the goals are going to come from. I live in the south and will be at Exeter on 13 September, let’s see where we are then eh? Keep the faith, Up the Vale
Let’s not panic we were the better team for most of the game last night and they’ve won 4 on the bounce! Hopefully Shipley and Ojo are ok, great to see Garrity back. It took a while for Moore to sort his best team and formation last season I’m confident once we got all players back fit and available we’ll be ok. UTV !
Why does Mr. Moore insist on making substitutions on the 65 minute mark?
There was absolutely no need to interfere with the game, we were in control both front and back
Three points thrown away.
Tolaj needs to learn to stay on his feet, you can’t score lying down
Ojo needs to be given confidence to have a pop on goal, he was dancing around the edge of the box all night.
Rather embarrassing to watch as the defence fails to the end of the game the attacks on ball that should have happened didn’t 2 man on 1 and we still couldn’t get the ball out of our box, hopefully the boys can work together more in defence and helping tolaj up front to secure our chances
