Yesterday was a great day for Vale managers. Congratulations to Darren Moore, managing Vale to an immediate promotion and return to League 1 despite criticism from some supporters. Success also for John Askey, leading Truro City to promotion as Champions from National League North to the National League, for the first time in the club’s history. John is arguably the best non league manager in the country, having also won promotions with Macclesfield Town and York City. Brilliant day too for popular Andy Crosby, rescuing Tranmere Rovers from the brink of relegation from League 2 with a remarkable run of just 2 defeats in his 12 games as Caretaker Manager.

Congratulations to Darren Moore and everyone at the club Mr Moore has come in for criticism regarding team selection and tactics (me included) however one thing is clear is recruitment has been absolutely brilliant he inherited a squad which would have been competing with Carlisle at the foot of the league instead he has transformed the squad into the best set of players the club has had since Mr rudge was in charge another round of recruitment to add to what he has we will be competing with the best in league one I cannot wait

Brilliant end to the season for Vale, football supporters are fickle and very quickly forget the bad days, at the end of the day football is a results based industry and important wins are greeted with mass celebration. A win on Saturday would be nice and would possibly secure the league 2 title, which would put the icing on the cake. Then to league 1 which will provide a sterner challenge, we must learn from our previous experience where we allowed 2 young loan players to provide the extra energy only to be taken away from us in January which brought disaster. Onwards and upwards, with some clever business we could hopefully make a better return to league 1. For now let’s enjoy what we have and give the manager, players and owners a pat on the back for what they have achieved. See you on Saturday, Up the Vale
