Former Port Vale manager Andy Crosby has been reported to be one of the leading contenders for the vacant Shrewsbury Town manager’s post.
Shrewsbury dismissed Paul Hurst earlier this month as they struggle at the bottom of League One. Crosby has been named by journalist Alan Nixon as one of three leading contenders alongside Mark Kennedy and Dino Maamria.
Crosby, initially the assistant to Darrell Clarke was appointed interim manager when Clarke took compassionate leave and played a key role in the club’s successful end of season.
When Clarke was dismissed in April 2023, Crosby was named as permanent manager that summer. He had a horror start with a 7-0 loss to Barnsley before a fine run at the start of the season. However, results then suffered and he was dismissed in February 2024 after one win in eight games. On leaving his post, Crosby said it was a “proud achievement” to be the Vale manager and he thanked the “amazing support” from both staff and fans.
Should Crosby get the role he would link up with former Valiants Mal Benning and George Lloyd as well as on loan Funso Ojo.

good !! i hope he gets it nice bloke good head on his shoulders unlucky with us !
Should never had been sacked by the Vale , he was nothing but a scapegoat for flitcroft and the way the club was being run. The clubs owners should be ashamed of themselves. A true gent who i wish all the very best to.
Andy Crosby is a good bloke and was very unlucky to be sacked at Port Vale I believe it was down to Flitcroft overseeing things Andy should have been given time to sort things out instead he was made the scapegoat shame on the management. I hope he is given a chance at Shrewsbury .Saying that I’m very happy with our present manager who is doing an excellent job.
Tough job taking on one of the League 1 relegation candidates, but Crosby would be able to call on his vast lower league experience to steer them in the right direction. He deserves another crack at team management after making a decent fist of a difficult situation at the Vale.
