Port Vale manager Darren Moore has told the media that a number of players are making rapid progress on the treatment bench.
We are just making sure he is not having any reaction but at the moment it looks all good. We will step up his programme. It’s helped Jesse with the game being on a Monday so he can make sure he’s settled things down for an extra day or two…
Darren Moore on Jesse Debrah
Moore told the media that defender Jesse Debrah is in contention for Monday’s game against Crewe while George Byers, Mitch Clark and Kyle John are all back in training. It leaves captain Ben Garrity as the only player on the sidelines.
Moore told the media: “Jesse (Debrah) had a little knock but he has been back in training. We are just making sure he is not having any reaction but at the moment it looks all good. We will step up his programme. It’s helped Jesse with the game being on a Monday so he can make sure he’s settled things down for an extra day or two before getting back into it.”
Debrah’s return will be a boost but Vale are well stocked in the defence with Nathan Smith coming into the first-team squad for the first time in the League last weekend while Sam Hart, Tom Sang and Kyle John have all played in the back three this season.
John is one of three players to return to training alongside midfielder George Byers and fellow wingback Mitch Clarke. Moore commented: “Mitch (Clark) is training (which is) brilliant. We had an in-house game last week where Mitch played. Harty (Sam Hart) played as well as some of the other pros to get them up to speed (such as) Diamond Edwards and Rekeem Harper. We were really pleased to have that game because it suggests they are definitely in and around the first-team picture. George (Byers) is back in training now, it is great to have him back. The one still on the treatment table at the moment is Ben Garrity.”

Can anyone tell me what is Byers injury, he is always never available. Can anyone tell all the fans how many games has Byers players since his transfer to Vale on a 3 year contract, he’s still top earner at the club
Alan Mountford – to answer the question, in almost two seasons Byers has made 32 League starts (plus nine as sub) along with seven cup appearances (plus one sub appearance). He’s scored three goals. That 32 starts is out of a maximum 85 he could have played since he joined us (so he’s started just over a third – 37% – of our League games since joining)
