There’s been no announcement and I think it’s worth bearing in mind that having no squad number doesn’t mean he’s not still with the club. From what I understand he hasn’t signed a contract but he’s also injured so unable to play (and therefore no need for a squad number right now). I’m not sure of the rules but I’d imagine he could be given a number if fit and having agreed a deal.

So, he hasn’t formally left but appears to be in some sort of limbo. I do think it’s been frustrating over how long it takes a teenager to agree a deal. I appreciate it’s a big decision but the deals offered to Shorrock, Lomax and so on didn’t cause this drawn-out delay so the club terms would appear to be favourable. He’s hardly coming from a position of strength like an experienced pro who can negotiate a top deal.

I think he’s got some potential and I hope he stays but with the squad numbers out it does point more towards an exit – but nothing formal has been announced on that yet.
