Sam Hart is an attacking left-back or left-sided midfielder who was initially signed on a half-season loan from Liverpool FC in August 2016.

He made his Port Vale debut coming on as a sub in a 3-1 win over Scunthorpe United. He then made his full League debut in the 3-1 home victory over Millwall in September 2016 and scored his first goal in a 3-1 defeat to Bolton in October before returning to Liverpool in January. The defender then moved to Blackburn Rover where he went on a further four loan spells.

Eight years later, after spells with Southend United and Oldham Athletic,  Hart joined the Valiants on a permanent basis signing a two year deal after his departure from Sutton United. He was the club’s fourth signing of the summer. Manager Darren Moore commented: “Sam is an athletic full back with a combative nature who will bring a good balance to our back line.”

His second spell saw him used as a squad member as the Valiants secured promotion to League One. In September 2025 he was loaned to Falkirk. At the end of his loan spell he was released by the Valiants.
