Midfielder whose Port Vale move fell through says club failed to apply for paperwork
Midfielder Adeteye Gbadehan has claimed on social media that Port Vale failed to obtain the right paperwork to enable his move from the United States to take place.
The midfielder was reportedly the target of several clubs so it was something of a coup when the Valiants announced on the 1st November 2023 that the 19 year-old had agreed a short-term contract with the club. Gbadehan was a free agent after playing in the US Leagues.
However, Gbadehan failed to make a first-team squad and on the 18th November the club announced that “the registration of midfielder Adeteye Gbadahan has been rejected by the relevant football authorities and due to this the 19-year-old will return now return to the United States.”
However, posting on social media the player claimed that his move required International transfer clearance and that the club did not apply for it on his behalf.
It seems an odd move from the club to beat other clubs to the signature of a highly rated teenager and then not fill in the appropriate paperwork to complete the move. It is unclear whether this was an administrational error or happened for some other reason.

That one I would imagine is down to Paddy Shanahan. I don’t think Colin Garlick would have made such a fundamental mistake.
