“It’s an honour” – Darren Moore’s pride at being named Port Vale manager
New Port Vale manager Darren More has said he is “delighted” to be named the club’s new manager and that it is an “honour” to represent the Valiants.
Moore was named as the manager on a five and a half year contract following the departure of Andy Crosby earlier this month.
It’s an honour to represent this football club, to lead the team and to be connected with the football club. I’m delighted and can’t wait to get started…
Moore told the club’s media team: “To be Port Vale’s manager it’s an honour to represent this football club, to lead the team and to be connected with the football club. I’m delighted and can’t wait to get started.”
Explaining his decision Moore said: “I’ve known the football club for many seasons. A wonderful, loyal, passionate supporter base but also Carol (Shanahan) and in terms of what she wanted the football club and I just felt we aligned. The more I found out about Port vale the more it warmed to me, it energised me.
“I had no hesitation in terms of coming here. I just want to continue the work and take this club and move it forward. We’ll move it forward in a joint effort.”
Asked about how his team will play Moore added: “I’ve always wanted a team that the fans can connect with, the fans can understand. I know any supporter would want that hard work, that commitment, that desire… and to give everything. That’s what I want the team to have. We have a real responsibility to the whole community and the football club.”
