Darren Moore’s comments
On squad spirit:
Really good, really impressed with them as a group. The commitment they have shown has been excellent. I’ve really enjoyed the last couple of days.
On formations and tactics:
You have to assess what you’ve got. Certain shapes that the team has been playing before might not be suited to everybody. What you try and do is you’ll see there’s certain systems that might bring one or two to the forefront. Will you see us apply different tactics and systems? Yes.
On injuries:
The good thing for us is getting one or two back from the treatment table which gives us more depth.
On his relationship with David Flitcroft:
It has to be a close relationship. It’s a daily, contact relationship. Both of us are on the same page. His energy, his enthusiasm, his vision for the club going forward was second to none really and I’m sure that relationship will grow stronger.
On the Dwight Gayle rumours:
I can understand people linking him in terms of Dwight’s position that he’s in and our time that we spent at West Brom. A wonderful human being, a good footballer, I can see the fit but no, there’s nothing in it really.
On the Cheltenham game:
First and foremost Darrell (Clarke) has done great work here. What an excellent human being and well respected in the game. I love his character. I’m looking forward to seeing him tomorrow, after the game that is. I expect no free yards given and I’m really looking forward to the game. I know the Vale fans will be as loud as ever. They’ve hit a bit of form so we expect it to be a tough game.
A message for the fans:
It’s an honour for me to be managing my first game tomorrow. I’m really, really honoured, I’m really, really chuffed, I’m really looking forward to the game and I’m really looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow. Get behind the team, sing your hearts out for the players, be vocal, as loud as you ever have been and I’m really looking forward to catching up with you all. Have a safe journey there. Thanks for all your support.
