Transfer Rumour: Port Vale linked with Man Utd midfielder as Devine replacement?
According to a report in the Telegraph newspaper, Port Vale are interested in bringing in a teenaged Manchester United midfielder following the departure of Spurs youngster Alfie Devine.
Devine has been recalled by parent club Tottenham Hotspur and subsequently loaned out to Championship side Plymouth Argyle. Devine’s departure along with that of fellow loanee Ollie Arblaster plus injuries to Funso Ojo and Ben Garrity leave Vale light in central midfield.
According to the Telegraph, Vale are interested in bringing 19 year-old Manchester United midfielder Dan Gore to the club. Gore has made one senior appearance for the Red Devils as well as five appearances for the U21 side in the Football League Trophy competition. He was named player of the year for the Man Utd Reserves last season.
The Valiants have had some success with persuading Premier League clubs to loan out their young talent, however according to reports other clubs are also interested in Gore. The list includes Bolton Wanderers, Blackpool, Shrewsbury Town, Fleetwood Town and Preston North End.
