Plymouth Argyle revealed as Alfie Devine’s next destination
Hours after recalling midfielder Alfie Devine from his loan spell at Port Vale, Tottenham Hotspur have loaned the teenager out to Championship side Plymouth Argyle.
Devine was a big success at Vale Park and Spurs clearly want to test the 19 year-old out at a higher level.
After the move was announced on the official Plymouth Argyle website, Director of Football Neil Dewsnip said: “He is known to our recruitment department, who have identified Alfie as a leading player in Sky Bet League One this season with Port Vale.”
Devine has joined fellow loanees Ollie Arblaster, Kofi Balmer and Josh Thomas in returning to his parent club in the New Year.
After his spell in Burslem came to an end, Devine took time to thank the club for making his stay in Burslem such an enjoyable one.
The Valiants were also happy with Devine’s stay with manager Andy Crosby commenting: “One of the key selling points of the club was the assurance that he would be coming in and gaining valuable Football League experience in what would be his first professional loan away from Tottenham. We can safely say that he has gained everything that was promised and more and he leaves the club a far more experienced player than when he came.”
Crosby added: “He has all of the tools at his disposal to go on and really make a name for himself in the professional game and everybody that he has met and worked with here at Port Vale will be willing him on to do so.”
