Port Vale confident that youngsters will agree long-term deals
Port Vale Director of Football David Flitcroft has told BBC Radio Stoke’s Phil Bowers that he is confident that youngsters Jack Shorrock and Rhys Walters will sign professional deals with the club.
The Valiants have already agreed deals with youngsters Ben Lomax and Baylee Dipepa this month but there have been rumours that Shorrock and Walters could move on to other clubs.
Rhys wants to sign for the football club, we definitely want Rhys to sign for the football club, Rhys’ mum wants him to sign for the football club and that’s what we’re trying to do…
Both Walters and Shorrock have been involved in the first-team this season and securing their signatures would be a boost for the long-term future of the club.
Flitcroft told the radio station: “Jack Shorrock, we’ve had really good talks with his agent. His mum and dad came in the other night. Again, we had a really positive chat. So, that one’s getting closer.
“The Rhys Walters one, it’s just gone on for too long now. We’re getting closer. We are now really speaking to the family and getting closer on that one. It’s just hit a few hurdles like every contract does. Rhys wants to sign for the football club, we definitely want Rhys to sign for the football club, Rhys’ mum wants him to sign for the football club and that’s what we’re trying to do, we’re trying to negotiate a deal that suits all parties and find a happy medium. Hopefully we’re getting there.”
