“Definitely go” – how Tommy McDermott urged Dan Gore to join Port Vale on loan
New loan signing Dan Gore has revealed that Port Vale youngster Tommy McDermott played a part in persuading him to join the Valiants.
Gore was unveiled as the club’s third January signing this week and he has spoken to the club’s media team about how the move came around.
The teenager knows McDermott and he explained that he spoke to the Port Vale youngster about the potential move. According to Gore, McDermott urged him to move commenting: “Yeah, he said ‘definitely go – it’ll be the best experience for you and you’ll develop really well’ and he said ‘if I catch you in training I’ll smash yer!'”
Gore took his family to the club prior to the loan move and revealed they were all impressed. He said: “I just knew straightaway. I got a feeling. It (the club) was just like a family. My dad was shocked he said “son, you’ve got to go there” because he just knew they would take care of me.”
Asked what Vale fans can expect of him Gore added: “I can guarantee hard work and determination and I’ll do everything for the badge.”
The midfielder could make his debut against Portsmouth at the weekend and the teenager says the the Vale’s senior players have told him to embrace it saying: “They said ‘the fans will back you. Just embrace it.'”
