“Number one concern” – Andy Crosby gives update on Ollie Arblaster injury
Manager Andy Crosby has given an update about Ollie Arblaster’s injury during the League Cup quarter-final defeat to Middlesbrough.
Arblaster, who has been one of the side’s outstanding performers since joining on loan from Sheffield United, was stretchered off in the second-half of the 3-0 defeat. Ironically, Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder was in the Vale Park crowd to monitor the progress of the teenager.
He is obviously in a lot of pain and has gone to hospital. He is our number one concern at the moment…
Speaking to the media after the game Crosby said: “It was a really deep gash around his knee and I think it has gone right down to the bone. He is obviously in a lot of pain and has gone to hospital. He is our number one concern at the moment.
“He has been so good for us both on and off the pitch and embraced everything we try to do. He has bought into the culture and environment of the club. Fingers crossed it is not as bad as it could be.”
Arblaster’s central midfield partner Funso Ojo was also replaced at half-time after being a doubt for the game leaving the Valiants with a potential midfield headache ahead of their busy Christmas schedule.
