Midfielder a doubt for Blackpool game
Midfielder cum wingback Tom Sang could be ruled out of Port Vale’s home game against Blackpool after picking up an injury.
The midfielder wasn’t in the squad to face Barnsley on Boxing Day. Speaking to the media, manager Andy Crosby confirmed that Sang was injured saying: “He felt his Achilles at Wycombe on Saturday which is why he had to come off at half time. We will see how that progresses over the next couple of days.”
The news means Sang is unlikely to make Port Vale’s squad for their home game against Blackpool.
Sang’s absence leaves Vale a bit stretched in several areas. In the wingback areas, it means Ben Lomax and Jack Shorrock will be the back-ups to Gavin Massey and Conor Grant. The pair acquitted themselves well in the closing stages of the Barnsley game.
In central midfield, Sang could have been an option for one of the central places vacated by the injuries to Funso Ojo and Ollie Arblaster. However, with Tom Conlon out of favour, it looks like Jason Lowe and Ben Garrity are likely to remain there for the foreseeable future.
