Port Vale to host remembrance service during FA Cup game with Burton Albion
Port Vale FC have announced that Saturday’s game against Burton Albion will be the club’s designated remembrance fixture, falling as it does closest to Remembrance Sunday.
The Valiants will be paying tribute to all those who have given their lives for their country.
A club statement said:
Saturday’s match is our closest home game to Remembrance Sunday and will be our chance to honour those who gave the greatest sacrifice.
Representatives of both football clubs will lay wreaths in the centre circle ahead of kick-off, it will then be followed by a period of silence that will end with the playing of The Last Post.
Supporters who wish to be involved in the remembrance service are asked to take their seats by 2:50pm.
Ex-service personnel will be in attendance in the Staffordshire University Fan Zone collecting donations for the Royal British Legion.
