Port Vale striker is injured during International duty
On loan striker Josh Thomas has been added to Port Vale’s lengthy injury list after picking up a knock during a Wales U21 International match.
Thomas played for Wales in their U21 International against Iceland and he was unfortunately sent-off for a challenge on the Iceland goalkeeper.
Wales Under-21s boss Matty Jones says the striker was concerned about the welfare of keeper Adam Ingi Benediktsson commenting: “Josh has shown great empathy and compassion towards the goalkeeper, with regards to reaching out to him on social media. It was a check to make sure he was OK, there was concern over whether the goalkeeper had concussion.”
Jones also admitted that Thomas was injured during the challenge adding: “Josh tried pulling out of the tackle, he’s since gone for a scan, and the jerk out of the tackle has forced him to tear a muscle. That’s unfortunate for him and he will probably miss three to four weeks playing time.”
The news is a blow for the Valiants as Thomas has netted three times from nineteen appearances this season. Fellow striker James Wilson is also out injured which leaves Uche Ikpeazu and Ryan Loft as the club’s only recognised senior centre forwards.
