“Fine margins that are defining results” – Nathan Smith on Port Vale’s poor League run
Port Vale captain Nathan Smith says that “fine margins” are responsible for the club’s poor form but he’s not been happy with his own performances and those of the team during the eleven games without a win.
I can’t say I’ve been happy with the way things have gone the last ten, eleven games have been extremely disappointing for everyone that has been involved in the team from a results basis. To say I’d be happy with the performances from myself and from the team would be a lie…
Speaking to the media Smith said: “I can’t say I’ve been happy with the way things have gone the last ten, eleven games have been extremely disappointing for everyone that has been involved in the team from a results basis. To say I’d be happy with the performances from myself and from the team would be a lie.
“We’re doing a lot of things right, it’s coming down to fine margins that are defining results. Hopefully, if we can flick the switch and get back onto the momentum we had at the start of the season we can begin to climb the table.”
Smith is hoping the club will have better fortune in the weekend’s FA Cup second round clash with Stevenage. He added: “Cup games are always a one-off. If we could put a finger on it we’d transfer them results into the League in a heartbeat.
“It’s a cup game, anything can happen. It’s one of them where you can get an exciting draw after this one. Looking forward to it and hoping to get a positive result.”
