Major injury blow for Port Vale midfielder
Port Vale have announced that midfielder Tom Conlon faces up to three months on the sidelines.
The club captain has picked up a hamstring injury during pre-season training and now faces 10-12 weeks recovering.
The news is a major blow for the locally born midfielder who returned to the side last season after missing most of the 2021-2022 season with ankle ligament damage.
Manager Andy Crosby told the official website: “We’re absolutely gutted for Tom, picking up an injury at any time is always bad but even more so at the beginning of the season.
“He will now begin his initial stage of rehab under the guidance of Mike Hine and his medical team and as a football club we will support Tom in every way possible.”
Vale are reasonably well-stocked in central midfield with Funso Ojo, Tom Sang, Ben Garrity, Tommy McDermott, Ethan Chislett, Conor Grant and Jason Lowe all possible options.
