Former Valiants: loanee agrees permanent deal with League One side
Former Port Vale loanee Danny Butterworth has agreed a permanent switch to League One newcomers Carlisle United.
The forward has agreed a two-year deal with the Cumbrians who were promoted via the play-offs last season.
Butterworth was released by his former parent club Blackburn Rovers at the end of the season.
The 23-year-old came through the Rovers academy after a spell at Manchester United and played 17 first-team games, in addition to a loan spell at Fleetwood.
Last season, he joined the Valiants in the New Year transfer window and made 34 outings scoring four goals.
After leaving the club he commented: “I’ve enjoyed my time on loan at Port Vale, playing regular first team football and getting a few goals and assists to my name, and that’s just made me want to go and play even more games.”
