Emmanuel is due to be out of contract and available as a free agent. If the rumour is true then Vale will be boosted by Wigan’s current financial problems which means they are unlikely to be able to finance a bid for the player.
Who is Josh Emmanuel?
The defender progressed through Ipswich Town’s youth academy and spent time on loan with Crawley Town, Rotherham United and Shrewsbury Town. A short permanent spell with Bolton Wanderers followed before he spent two-and-a-half years at Hull City. He was out of the game for a spell with a blood clot but returned to join Grimsby Town in January 2023 making seventeen appearances and playing in the side’s memorable FA Cup run. Emmanuel has played as a right-sided wingback or full-back and according to some, after recovering from his health scare, he is back to the form which saw him play regularly in the Championship.
