Dan Jones says Andy Crosby was the key reason why he signed a new Port Vale contract
Defender Dan Jones says that Vale Park now feels like “home” and that playing for new manager Andy Crosby was a major factor in him agreeing to extend his stay at the club.
Jones agreed a new two-year contract in the summer which should extend his stay in Burslem to four years.
I love working under him. His football knowledge and tactical aspect of the game is just fantastic…
Reflecting on the appointment of Crosby as manager, the defender told the official Port Vale website that was a key factor in him staying with the club. He commented that he was “Really excited to see how it all goes. He (Crosby) was probably the main reason for me signing the two-year deal and staying here.”
Jones explained that Crosby’s accessibility and knowledge were key factors adding: “I love working under him. His football knowledge and tactical aspect of the game is just fantastic.
“On a personal level, its fantastic. He’s always messaging asking how you are. He involves you in everything within reason. It’s not just about football when you speak to him… feeling appreciated and wanted by someone was a major factor (in signing the new contract).”
The defender is making a good recovery from injury and says he is raring to go commenting: “I just love being in here (Vale Park). I just can’t wait to get back now. I’m excited and I feel at home.”
