The background…
a) The programme
This match took place in the first-half of the 1990-91 season. It ended in a dramatic 3-2 win for the home side despite Vale goals from Colin Gibson and Nicky Cross. Striker Andy Payton was the villain for the travelling fans with a 90th minute winner. It was played in front of 5,185 supporters. The Valiants finished in 15th place in the second division that season.
