Ben Garrity – there’s potential for the club to grow and I want to be part of it
Midfielder Ben Garrity says the potential of Port Vale and the vision of manager Andy Crosby were key reasons why he agreed a fresh two-year contract with the club.
The signature of Port Vale’s promotion season’s player of the year has handed the Valiants a huge boost and the player himself was delighted to agree a new deal.

He told the Port Vale media team that he was “Buzzing. Excited. ”
Garrity says he is settled at Vale Park adding: “I’m happy here, I love it here. I see there’s potential for the club to grow and I want to be part of it. My family are here every home game. They’re buzzing as they didn’t want me to leave.”
The style of football to played under manager Andy Crosby was another factor with Garrity admitting that, although there was interest from elsewhere, playing under Crosby was a big factor. He commented: “There’s always possible opportunities but the grass isn’t always greener and up here the fans love me and I love all the lads. There’s potential for me to grow with the club.
“He (Andy Crosby) rang me a couple of times. He wants me to be a part of what’s going happen. The way he wants to play, it sounds like it suits me (but I have) got to work hard and get into the starting eleven.”
The midfielder was full of praise for the new manager adding: “He puts in so much hard work. He’ll be great for the club and I do think Cros will be a big part of us moving forward.”
Garrity is also looking forward to more League One football although he concedes the club needs to build on it’s first season. He said: “It’s a big learning curve. I was disappointed to end the season injured. I want to be one of those robust players who never get injured.
“I’m buzzing there’s a different vision on how he (Andy Crosby) wants to play and I am excited about that. This season my main goal is get flying in pre-season and to get ready for that first game.”
