Port Vale agree a new contract with midfielder Ben Garrity
Port Vale FC have announced that midfielder Ben Garrity has agreed a two year contract extension with the Valiants.
The midfielder joins Dan Jones, Nathan Smith and James Plant in signing a new contract with the club.
Garrity was one of the best signings by former manager Darrell Clarke. He had been playing non-league football as recently as 2020 before he was signed by Blackpool. He was added to the side in the summer of 2021 and scored twelve goals and was named player of the year during Vale’s promotion season.
His goals dried up as he was employed in a more defensive position last season but his energy and workrate was a key tool in the Vale engineroom. His signing is also a big boost after the recent departures of David Worrall and James Wilson
A club press release confirmed the news with Director of Football David Flitcroft saying:
We as a club are delighted to announce the signing of Ben Garrity. The importance of retaining a player and person like Ben is essential to the vision and the progression of the club.
Ben epitomises our core values. His appetite for continual improvement in every aspect of his life and his game makes him an outstanding leader and a pivotal member of the group.
His physical attributes and attitude are at the level required at League One and above. The work that Ben consistently puts in to improve himself both on and off the pitch is clear for all to see and it’s a testament to his incredible work ethic.
Ben is someone that we are proud to have represent Port Vale FC and we are excited to continue to work with him to develop even further as a player and as a leader.
Manager Andy Crosby added:
I am absolutely delighted that Ben has committed his immediate future to Port Vale FC.
A driving force on the pitch and a strong character in the changing rooms, Ben epitomises everything that we are working towards becoming as a team with his outstanding athleticism, unbelievable work rate and mentality with the unwavering will to succeed and become the best version of himself.
