Former Valiant battling to regain spot
Former Port Vale goalkeeper Ryan Boot is battling to regain his number one spot at Solihull Moors, with on-loan shot-stopper Louie Moulden currently the preferred option.
Boot made 28 appearances for Vale between 2013 and 2018, including a stint as our first-choice in the 2017/18 season but was released that summer after several costly errors. The goalkeeper joined Solihull Moors in the National League and asserted himself as one of the best in non-league football, earning a call-up to the England C squad earlier this year.
Solihull finished third in the National League, qualifying for the play offs, though Boot was forced to miss out after picking up a long-term injury that also kept him sidelined for the start of this season. Consequently, the Moors signed highly-rated Wolves goalkeeper Louie Moulden, which has seen Boot’s playing time restricted to just three games in all competitions.
Moulden is due to return to his parent club on 2 January 2023, though Solihull could decide to try to extend the youngster’s stay at the club until the end of the season as they try to go one better than last season and win promotion into the Football League.
Boot, 27, re-signed with Solihull in 2021 after originally being released by the club having been an ever-present in his first three seasons at the Moors.
