The Fielding family will be matchball sponsors for the home game against Lincoln City on Saturday – in honour of much missed Vale fan Gerry Fielding.
Gerry, father of OVf founder Rob Fielding, passed away at the age of 89 earlier this year. He had been a supporter of the Valiants for over seven decades and was a regular on the Lorne Street terrace.
The choice of opponents Lincoln City is appropriate as the Imps were the first opponents seen by Rob Fielding back in 1980 when he was first taken to a game by his father.
Gerry’s final game saw him attend with three generations of his family and they will also be there on Saturday to pay tribute to a much loved husband, father and grandfather.
The family would like to invite all fans to join in a minute’s applause to remember Gerry. It will be held during the 76th minute – to mark his 76 years of support for the club.
