Port Vale manager says Valiants were “poor upfront”
Following the heavy defeat to Exeter City, Darrell Clarke says efforts to strengthen frontline will continue.
Vale have just Jamie Proctor available as an out and out forward and the management team have been trying to bring in replacements this summer.
However, the comprehensive loss to Exeter showed Vale’s weakness in sharp relief as they ended the game without a recognised forward.
We obviously need that, it goes without saying. I thought we were very poor up front to be honest…
Clarke told the media that the search continues saying “We obviously need that, it goes without saying. I thought we were very poor up front to be honest. I didn’t think we gave ourselves a platform to create chances and get in the game, so, obviously we need that area of the pitch strengthening. I am sure the fans are frustrated (with hearing that). Until then we will keep working with the group we have got.
“The recruitment team is working very hard to get the right centre forwards into the club, and the right players in different positions, to make sure we are very competitive in this league.”
