Port Vale 1-0 Dundee United: youngster Tommy McDermott scored the winner as Port Vale won a summer friendly game against Dundee United in Spain.
McDermott, the reigning youth team player of the season was included in the side alongside summer signings Lewis Cass and Funso Ojo. The opposition included former Stoke City striker Steven Fletcher, making his first appearance for the side.
McDermott was first to threaten with his shot hitting the bar. However, the youngster made no mistake on 48 minutes when Garrity played him in to open the scoring.
Dundee Utd player Declan Glass had the ball in the net in the second period but he saw his effort disallowed for offside.
Vale then rang the changes including an appearance for trialist defender Derek Agyakwa, formerly of Watford.
Summer signing Ojo nearly added another but his 63rd minute shot hit the post.
McDermott then left the field leaving Vale to complete the game with ten men but they held firm to record a clean sheet and a win in their latest summer friendly.
