Injury to Port Vale striker James Wilson is confirmed
Port Vale striker James Wilson has confirmed that he is suffering from an injury – but the good news is that it is not as serious as some fans feared.
Rumours have been swirling after Wilson didn’t participate in a number of pre-season friendlies with some fans claiming the striker was out until Christmas.
Wilson appeared at a fans forum on Thursday night where he confirmed that he expected to return to action in a few weeks. The club confirmed the news via a tweet:

The striker was the club’s top-scorer last season and was named man of the match after the Wembley play-off final win over Mansfield Town.
It leaves Jamie Proctor as the club’s only recognised striker although Ben Garrity and summer signing Gavin Massey can also play in more advanced roles.
Manager Darrell Clarke has made it clear that he is still seeking additions to his squad but does not want to rush signings in order to get the right players. It is likely that a striker to provide cover and competition is high on his list of priorities.

Only one recognised striker and one inexperienced goalkeeper but don’t panic we’ll get the players DC wants in the Xmas window!
