Earlier opening time for turnstiles ahead of Newport County game
Port Vale FC look to have quickly learnt lessons from the Bristol Rovers tie as they have announced that turnstiles will open earlier for the Bank Holiday clash with Newport County.
Over 8,000 home supporters turned up for the home game against Rovers but many were frustrated as some turnstiles were not opened until past 2pm, causing long queues outside parts of the ground.
The club is now opening turnstiles at 1,45pm on Monday to try to avoid the same issues.
CEO Colin Garlick told the Sentinel newspaper: “There were one or two issues. What we do try to do with these big games is open all the turnstiles that we have available to use, staff them and encourage people to get here early. We are going to open the gates a quarter of an hour earlier on Monday just to help and again, staff it all up.
“There is a reluctance for some people to come into the ground (early) and it is trying to get that balance right. But we are going to go 15 minutes earlier and hopefully that will just make a difference on Monday.”
Garlick says the club is preparing for another big crowd adding: “Home support is amazing and I think we are heading for close to the 8,000 mark again. We won’t get the same numbers from Newport but the important thing is the home support and they rally behind the lads. It is a massive game for us and we will know what has happened on Saturday when we go into Monday’s game.”
