Two good teams – Darrell Clarke on Port Vale’s draw with Tranmere Rovers
Port Vale manager Darrell Clarke felt that Port Vale’s home draw against Tranmere Rovers was an evenly matched affair.
The Valiants managed a goalless draw on their first home League fixture of the season.
I thought it was two good teams having a really good go and it was probably a good game to watch for the neutral…
Speaking to the media after the game Clarke said: “I try to analyse games honestly and I thought it was two good teams going toe to toe.
“We have probably edged the better chances, we have hit the cross bar and hit the post, and their keeper has pulled off a great save at the end, so we are frustrated we haven’t picked up the win.
“Sometimes you need a bit of rub of the green as well. We are the thickness of the paint of the post twice aren’t we?
“But the job is getting the ball in the back of the net. I thought it was two good teams having a really good go and it was probably a good game to watch for the neutral. We are disappointed we haven’t quite nicked it.”
