Port Vale fundraiser for Lee Collins’ family raises over £2,000
A Port Vale supporters’ GoFundMe page to raise money for the family of the former Port Vale player Lee Collins has ended with a total of over £2,000 raised.
Well done to all the Vale fans who donated in Lee’s memory…
Collins sadly passed away this year aged just 32 and the fund was created by Vale supporter Darren Gregory, who wanted to pay tribute to the former Vale player.
The GoFundMe page was supported by many Port Vale fans and even former teammates of Collins including former Port Vale player Sam Morsy.
On the completion of the GoFundMe campaign Gregory commented: “Well done to all the Vale fans who donated in Lee’s memory. A great effort from Vale fans.”
Port Vale FC have assisted with passing the money on to Lee Collins’ partner.
A screengrab of the total amount raised is below:
Lee Collins at Vale Park
Time at club: 2008-2012
Games played: 163
Goals: 4
The defender spent four years at Vale Park between 2008 and 2012. He initially joined on loan from Wolverhampton Wnaderers in a move that was so successful it was made into a permanent transfer. Collins went on to make a total of 163 appearances and score four goals at the club. He was sold to Barnsley in 2012 as the financially challenged club tried to raise some revenue. Collins then went on to have spells with Northampton Town, Mansfield Town, Forest Green Rovers and Yeovil Town. He made a total of 470 appearances during his playing career, scoring eight times.
Our thoughts and best wishes are with his friends and family at this sad time.
